I was wondering if anyone had ever thought about displaying a tip of the day on a logon screen? I was thinking Idea that I might be able to insert a small amount of user education into the main form (keyboard shortcuts, usability features, etc.). I don't want to have to manually change the text everyday. I have seen database connections, but wonder if there is a performance issue. I could have an access database or even SQL server that would control the character limit and formatting. This is mostly just an idea, and I am looking for thoughts and comments.

Thank you

My initial thought is this is something that is quite doable with KiX/Kixforms. As far as implementation, I wouldn't think there would be much of a drain on whatever method was used to store the database of messages. You could use an .ini file, a text file, an Access database, SQL database, or anything accessible via ODBC, and probably others.

I would probably opt for the .ini file myself as it would be extremely simple to implement, manage, and update.

My two cents...

My thought is that it doesn't belong in a login-script Wink

Edit the user's start-page instead, and post your TotD on an Intranet-site, or SharePoint site etc.
