Just by way of update on Build 44.

TreeView is almost done. Just have to provide enumeration capabilties for the Nodes collection and little bit more testing. Not going to provide support for "for-each-in-next" enums of Nodes in this first pass. But will be able to enum the nodes using Nodes.Count and Nodes.Item. Sorted won't be there in the first pass either, as well as a few misc. TreeView props and methods.

I added two new properties to the $System namespace. Version gives the Kixforms version number and Build gives the build number. Will be able to check the Kixforms version now without having to create a form.

Going to be fixing some misc. memory leakage in "phases" over the next few releases. These leaks are only apparent when pushing Kixforms to the limit (like creating and destroying 1000 buttons over and over again) ... just some cleanup. Don't want to introduce all these leak fixes in a single release because of potential ripple defects.

Anyone else have any minor fixes or suggestions for the next release. ?

Spinbutton
Documentation/Update to current specs.

ToolButton
Add .Cancel property. Can you remind me why we have Toolbutton and Button? Personally I think I would want them combined into one. I probably would never use the Button object if it were not for the .Cancel property.

ListView
Ability to add an item with subitems by using an array. Filling an ListView with an array of arrays would be cooler.
Have mouse buttons function as they do for other objects.

Datagrid
Timeframe? I get requests all the time for things that really need the datagrid object. Examples of request are Tooltips for columns, edit in place, checkboxes in other columns.

That is it for off the top of my head.

I thought of another.

Shell
Progress? I think you wanted to make another object in it's place.

SpinButton will be turning into the NumericUpDown control, thats why I haven't really documented it too much. Its going to be depracated one day.

ToolButton vs Button is a long story. Button is based on the vanilla Windows button control and does NOT support Icons and Text an the same time. ToolButton was the anwser, its a totally hand-jobbed custom-draw button ... problem is, custom-draw buttons have some incompatibilities with being the default and cancel button. But, when I ever get around to implementing the Form.DefaultButton and Form.CancelButton properties, this whole business will be fixed. I had always intended to "roll" the ToolButton into Button one day - still see it happening.

Let me look into a idea called "AddRange" for collections, it allows one to add an array of objects into a collection, a single array anyway.

Datagrid is on the horizon ... but just so that you know, there is NO datagrid that comes with base Windows (there is one in dotnet though). Any datagrid you've ever seen is probably a hand-jobbed thingy or an expensive third-party component. Datagrids seem to be big business in the development (things for sale) business. I think I can produce a pretty decent data-grid for Kixforms ... and have researched the matter, and its on the horizon.

Was thinking about this over coffee this morning ... how about a new feature in ListView (and TreeView) where if the user presses F2, label editing mode is enabled ?

SpinButton
Please give me a heads up when you get to this one. I use for my settings.

ToolButton
I guess that means no .Cancel. Crying or Very sad

ListView
The "F2" for editing would be good as long as they can edit all the columns. I for one have not let people edit any ListView in place because it only supports the first column.
AddRange would be great, even if it is only one item with subitems at a time. Very Happy

DataGrid
I realize that. I bring it back up because that is where you say you be adding most of what I ask for.

Thanks

Is it possible to pull an icon from and exe? If not, that would be a good addition.

yeah, thats kinda there now ... just that im not "happy" with the whole "extract icon from dll/exe" thingy ... this should work:

$Form.Icon = "shell32.dll;4"

where 4 is the index of the icon in the dll/exe to extract. Like I say, this needs more work though.

Thanks.

I remember seeing discussions about pulling from a dll but never an exe.

hehee ;=) ... we added the ability to use a GIF or JPG file as input to the slice and dicer ...

I know you use AddStrip Kelly, was hoping you could give it the stamp of approval before it gets released.

And another thing ... when I was testing I converted a BMP strip I had over to GIF and JPG ... why is it that mspaint, when it saves the file as jpg or gif, dithers the solid background color and totally screws-up the color ... its not a pure solid color anymore ... why is that ?

I am a Paint Shop Pro person. I won't use MS Paint unless I have to. I will check it out at home.

Just a weakness of paint Im afraid. I used to know some way of getting around it but cant quite remember off the top of my head.

Something like copying the image to the clipboard before saveing it to jpg...Then after saving as jpg paste back over it and save again. Not sure if that will work or not.... Rolling Eyes
