Hi,

I've written a small script in Kixforms that is working fine on our XP SP3/Windows 7 SP 1 estate, with software DEP enabled.

One of our Desktop team was building a new machine and could not get the kixforms script working. I double checked it wasn't the script by writing a small Kixform with simply button on it.

After a bit of playing we discovered that the script would run ok with Hardware DEP disabled, in the machines registry, but with software DEP enabled in Windows.

We are using Kixforms version 2.46.55.0 (latest).

This leaves he with two questions:
1. Kixforms must be executing code in memory, thus hardware DEP is blocking it. So why doesn't software DEP stop it?

2. Has anyone else come across this? I've Googled the subject but cannot find anyone with the same issues. Are people simply disabling hardware DEP? Is there a way to 'fix' kixforms so it runs with hardware DEP?

Just to be sure, try going here and downloading the newest version (2.47) of kixforms and give it a shot. There were a big change in between the two, since Shawn switched to the newest compiler when compiling this latest version. You'll actually need to get this newer version in order to use it with the newest version of KiX anyways (4.62).

Also see this post concerning the compatibility issues with the older version of kixforms.dll and the newest version kixtart.

Please let us know if upgrading doesn't fix the problem, and will keep trying to help you out!
