I added the MaskedTextBox BackColor and ForeColor - added some new Mask elements. Will be posted shortly.

PostPosted: Thu May 11, 2006 3:32 pm    Post subject: Trasparent labels and progress bars Reply with quote

I have started playing with label transparency. I want to put some labels on top of a progress bar to show total and percentage. Transparency for the label goes back to the form.

I have learned that if label is defined before the progress bar, the label is visible, otherwise you can not see it. I would have thought the last object defined would be visible according to the Z axis.

Can either fix it so a label can be put on top of other object and get transparency from the object below it.

Or... the easier fix for me would be to add text with color options to the progess bar.

Thanks

Your right about the transparency. Its not true-true transparency - the control is transparent in regards to its container - but is not aware of other sibling controls underneath it.

btw - this is how dotnet defines transparency - its works exactly the same there. To get true random transparency of windows controls if exceptionally hard to acheive - if not impossible.

anyway your right - a progress bar with text would be much better than a transparent label pasted on top.

At the moment I am going to move the total/percent off the control and wait for text on the progressbar. Wink Wink

Sound great Shawn...

I found some differences how "cut/copy/paste" behaves inside MaskedTextBox.

If user wants to paste a value into MaskedTextBox, it has to mark the entire input area, then right click the mouse and choose "paste".

Keyboard command will not work inside the MaskedTextBox
Ctrl+V and Ctrl+C will not function as normal. They removes “delete” the entered values.

It this normal behavior?

No its not. I have to build-in the cut/copy/paste features. Will look into this asap.

First I have to sort-out how things "should" work ;0)

Shawn,

The Default property for Buttons has changed. When focus is on a different button than the Default button and the Entery key is pressed, the button with the current focus is pressed instead of the Default button.

Not sure if the behavior changed or not, but I think this is normal behavior (its the same as in dotnet anyways) ... if the other control was anything other than a button, hitting ENTER should click the default button.

I've packaged a script using the latest KF classic dev build and the change is apparent than before. I have preset buttons used to automatically change combobox values.

What I usually do is click one of the preset buttons and then hit the Enter key. But since the focus is on the preset button, it's not pressing the OK button (default button).

Since this new behavior follows the .NET model, I guess this is a permanent change?

To be totally honest, I am trying to think of what I did that may have changed it. dotnet aside, think I will check a couple of standard "dialog" windows to see if this is expected behavior or not. You might want to as well if your inclined (like maybe IE dialogs, or Office dialogs).

I think this change (or something else) is what breaks my kixtris highscore table update (hitting enter on the textbox should add the given name to a listview on the correspondant position). But since the last version hitting enter on that Textbox in the child form not just closes the highscore form but also the main form Sick

Will have to reproduce this behaviour in a little test scriptlet (not the full blown 2400+ lines code) and post it here if I don't find an obvious and docummented change in behaviour since the last update on kf Confused

Uhhhhh...I am unable to reproduce this on the stable version of KiXforms...maybe I was smokin'?

It does make sense that the focused button albeit not represented as the default property should have the enter key event trigger especially in situations where only keyboard keys are used to traverse through the controls of an app

Hi!

I begin to play with this new version (only now).
And I found that some properties names are changed.

Exemples :
Wordwrap => WordWrap
Multiline => MultiLine
etc.

I call kixforms from Python, who is case sensitive.

Would you have a list of this kind of modifications?

Thank you by advance (and sorry for my bad english).

Hi Michel

To be honest, I don't remember making any such modifications. If I did - it was certainly by accident - and would have been a long, long time ago.

Having said that - don't have a list I can give you. Just my assurance that no such modifications will be made in the future.
