So far, so good. I am working on a non-work version. It is fun trying to figure out what to rip out to make the programs more generic. I guess my setup program will become more complicated because of it.

You were right btw, I did deprated the Application object (of course, its still there and will always be there) - just removed it from the CHM.

The new recommended approach is (as always) use the $Form.DoEvents or (the new) $System.DoEvents. The big "change" (its under the covers) is that Form.DoEvents and System.DoEvents are now the exact same function. Before, they weren't - and that caused some issues. There is only one DoEvents now - callable from two locations.

The System.DoEvents is required for form-less operation, for example - NotifyIcon-only scripts.

I can switch to doing it that way. I know I switched because of conversations we had, but I can't remember why and I am too lazy to search for the answer. Laughing

Some feedback:

For MaskedTextBox, missing properties TextAlign, CharacterCasing, Back and ForeColor handling.

hum...

Playing with Shawns mask.kix got idea to add mask for MaskedTextBox to enable Mac, UserID and TeleFind input.

Not sure how to define mask to enable all in MaskedTextBox ...

Code:

Break On

$TITLE = "MaskedTextBox Demo"

$System = CreateObject(iif($dotnet,"Kixforms.Application","Kixtart.System"))

$Form = $System.Form()
$Form.Size = 400,200

$Form.Menu = MainMenu()
$Form.MaximizeBox = 0
$Form.MinimizeBox = 0
$Form.Resizable = 0
$Form.Text = $TITLE

$MaskLabel = $Form.Controls.Add("Label")
$MaskLabel.Left = 5
$MaskLabel.Top = 10
$MaskLabel.Width = 50
$MaskLabel.Text = "Mask"
$MaskLabel.TextAlign = "MiddleLeft"

$MaskComboBox = $Form.Controls.Add("ComboBox")
$MaskComboBox.Left = $MaskLabel.Right + 5
$MaskComboBox.Top = $MaskLabel.Top
$MaskComboBox.Right = $Form.ClientWidth - 5
$MaskComboBox.Text = "Mask"
$MaskComboBox.OnSelectedIndexChanged = "SetMaskButton_Click()"

$Masks =
   "IP Add.",
   "UserID/Host",
   "MAC",
   "TeleFind"

For Each $Mask In $Masks
 $= $MaskComboBox.AddItem($Mask)
Next

$MaskComboBox.ListIndex = 0

$MaskedTextBox = $Form.Controls.Add("MaskedTextBox")
$MaskedTextBox.Left = $MaskLabel.Right + 5
$MaskedTextBox.Top = $MaskComboBox.Bottom + 10
$MaskedTextBox.Right = $Form.ClientWidth - 5
$MaskedTextBox.Text = "Set Mask >"

$Form.Center
$Form.Show

While $Form.Visible
 $= Execute($Form.DoEvents)
Loop

Exit 0

Function SetMaskButton_Click()

If $MaskComboBox.Text = "IP Add."
 $MaskedTextBox.Mask = "999.999.999.999"
 $MaskedTextBox.Focus
Endif

If $MaskComboBox.Text = "UserID/Host"
 $MaskedTextBox.Mask = ""
 $MaskedTextBox.Focus
Endif

If $MaskComboBox.Text = "MAC"
 $MaskedTextBox.Mask = ""
 $MaskedTextBox.Focus
Endif

If $MaskComboBox.Text = "TeleFind"
 $MaskedTextBox.Mask = ""
 $MaskedTextBox.Focus
Endif

EndFunction

eeee, why not... no mask and it works as orginal textbox. User could enter whatever he/she wants...

I mean how do u define mask for entering MAC?
It will be billions of possible combinations

Now I get dizzy Dizzy

Beside the IP input, I have UserID, Hostname and MAC input to consider.

But I cannot figure out how the mask should be defined to make it work.
The problem is, such values as MAC and UserID could not be easily defined by mask.

A Mac input contains six segments, each by two character mixed between 0-Z (letters and numbers)
01-B8-02-E9-C6-A0.

A UserID could be mixed of letters and numbers and the length is not fixed
UserID Floyd01

That's my dilemma...

0-Z for Media Access Control Addresses?

Eh, not really, it's more like 0-F, no?

Based on cappy's suggestion, would this make a good MAC mask:

"[0-f][0-f]-[0-f][0-f]-[0-f][0-f]-[0-f][0-f]-[0-f][0-f]-[0-f][0-f]"

the other popular option for MAC would be

[0-f][0-f][0-f][0-f].[0-f][0-f][0-f][0-f].[0-f][0-f][0-f][0-f]
