This started as a simple ListBox test script, then I kinda got carried away. It shows how the ListBox now supports item coloring. Basically, if an item has a ForeColor, than it will appear that color. This idea makes for some interesting possibilities, but pratically speaking though - the ListItem object has been enhanced to support the ForeColor property.

Note: - this script requires the very latest WIP Build.

Well, it was like "hanging out" there and nobody wanted to help me verify its proper functioning so to be safe, I just ripped it out and stuck with the pure-dot-net ListBox.

Shawn,

I'm sorry, I've been a real slack arse. I did test it but have been so busy with work I haven't replied. I would really like the feature back if you're still willing to indulge ???

It didn't break my current scripts and I was able to verify the basic feature - the thing is I need to rethink the method I use to populate and update the list so colouring doesn't bog things down. Not a biggie but just have to find the time.

hey merc, no problems man. I just didn't want to release a stable alpha build without you saying that your existing script didn't break, and it didn't so thats all I needed to hear.

I will add the colored listbox back into the next release.

You worried about some kinda performance issue with colored list items ?

There's no performance issue with the colour feature.

What is happening is I am populating the list box by enumerating the members of a given security group in AD. The reason I want to use colour is to indicate the status of an account - i.e. Red for Disabled…
To do that I need to connect to each account object in the list and go through the usual ADSI process of determining the state of the properties I want to flag. Rather than simply feed the contents of an array into the ListBox I now need to validate every member before adding it so I can set the appropriate colour. This is not too bad when I first populate the list but if I make a change in AD, I need to refresh the list before seeing the change. I need to learn from your script how to update a single, or multiple selected list items to improve efficiency. I’ll show an example when get it working.
