Shawn,

I Recently posted a few examples of the forms from my Installation Wizard.
In this wizard a lot of time consuming actions are performed. These are actions carried out by Kix itself like a COPY command or actions carried out by external programs like SQLPLUS or IMP (both Oracle utilities) through the Kix SHELL command.
During thes actions the KixForms window is "Non Responding".
Moving onother window over it blanks the form. I even found out that some Window actions block for a long time. This happens when an environment variable is changed and windows tries to inform all runnning programs. Explorer cab block for a long time and I found other long delays.

Would it be possible to solve this problem, maybe by starting an extra thread in the form that handles updates of the form.
BTW using $FORM.SHELL is not a solution for me because it does not handle the COPY or other long running Kix code issue and I need the original DOS box for feedback and possible user interaction when starting external programs.

When you say "COPY" do you mean the native Kixtart COPY ?

Well,

you might try to catch these Non-Formevent actions by running them from inside an asynchronous DoEvents loop ... maybe best spawning different processes (starting other scripts not by calling but by shelling to kix32.exe)
The problem you may get from that is of course error checking/trapping.

Jochen,

That is not an option.
During an installation tens of COPY comands and hundreds of external SQLPLUS commands, which execute database commands, are executed and they should be strictly executed in a strct order.
The result of every command is logged and the logfile is checked before the next command is executed. So spawning with RUN is impossible.
