Think its about time we moved the development build 45 into Final status - the big thing I was hanging on to was the new Label object - although not perfect, think its "good enough" to declare final (unless anyone has any objections) ...

Rod: if no objects, can you move the dev build into final status ?

Guess the next big question is what will be in build 46 ? Well, heres the short-list that (some of you may already know) is being worked on:

GridView
Sockets (continued)
ContextMenus (continued)

After that (Build 47) there will be a brand new TextBox control that supports masked data entry (already being worked on) ...

How about documenting the SpinButton at some point unless you have some big plans for it.

Everything has looked good so far. I have not had time to get dirty with sockets yet. I am surprised no one has tried to write something that was not client/server like ping.

Was going to move SpinButton over to the dotnetty NumericUpDown and DomainUpDown, etc but never got around to it - thats kinda why I didn't document the splnbutton too much, everything was going to change. So I just pretend that it not there for now.

The big problem with doing "real" protocols is the binary packet data we would need to do - the ICMP protocol is pretty simple, but un-implementable in Kixtart ... need that BLOB object mentioned earier in another thread.

No problem, I will ping you this weekend via IM and if there are no major issues raised then I will publish Build 45 as KF 2.3.0 Final Release.

Rod.

Your the expert on this - you and Richard H. were having an awesome discussion of this over at korg on this, you even were whipping together a COM object on this ... any insight ?

problematic part has nothing to do with the writing but the actual presentation of the stuff towards the script.
as we know, binary data can include data that is not understandable for kixtart.
thus, my dll translated bytes to numeric values.

at best, it would work kinda like socket.
raw stuff coming out and going in
getByte() and it would return the byte
getData() read the data and give it

it's not hard.
just need to decide how the data is worked out and how to inform user if the data includes such stuff that kix can't handle.
like chr(0)
even though richard did not like my model of receive and send arrays, I think it's easiest way to handle blobs that can include unmanageable chars as well as structs.
well, just mumbling here... but as you see, the design model of kixtart binary is little bit unclear still and thus it yet can't (or shouldn't) be coded.
