I asked Shawn about executing from the top-level of the main menu and he said at this time it would not work. I think he said he would look into it, but I don't remember for sure.

If enabling/disabling does not work for you, then there is an ugly way to do what you want...
Code:

$FORM.MENU = $SYSTEM.MAINMENU()
$FORM.MENUSTYLE = 1
$FORM.mnuFILE = $FORM.MENU.MENUITEMS.ADD("FILE")
$FORM.mnuFILE_OPEN = $FORM.mnuFILE.MENUITEMS.ADD("OPEN")
$FORM.mnuFILE_CLOSE = $FORM.mnuFILE.MENUITEMS.ADD("CLOSE")

FUNCTION CHANGEMENU()
  $FORM.mnuFILE_OPEN.TEXT = ""
  $FORM.mnuFILE_OPEN.ENABLED = 0
ENDFUNCTION

This will emulate an erased menuitem, however it will still leave a little spacing. I couldn't get any closer than this.

ah i got you now, the menuitems at the top-top dont onclick (in the main menubar), i thought you were talking about the top (or the first) item in a drop down menu ... the top menubar items are funny things ... the don't respond to onclicks because they have submenus attached to them (the dropdowns) . they're kinda like regular menuitems that have arrows on the right and have submenu items in them .. ja ?

Should they respond to OnClicks ? ja, they should ... just that its tricky to implement and I haven't done it yet.

update ... i was incorrect about parent menuitems supporting the OnClick event, heres some dotnet doc ...

Quote:

Note If the MenuItems property for the MenuItem contains any items, the [Click] event is not raised. This event is not raised for parent menu items.

Also, I implemented the Visible property for MenuItems ;0) , this build will be upload tomorrow (sat) ...
