Hi All,
I still use KiXforms religiously - I absolutely love it and am extremely grateful to Shawn for his time and effort in developing such a useful library. I have one program in particular (over 10,000 lines) that is getting quite sophisticated (if I do say so myself) and unfortunately I find myself getting to the limits of what KiXforms provide.
Whilst the library is extensive, I sometimes find myself wanting to add a property, method, event or custom control.
Some things on my wishlist include:
Expanding the RichTextBox and Gridview controls
HTML control (may be beyond my abilities)
Column Click Event on ListView
I couldn't imagine imposing on Shawn's very valuable time to do something that probably only I would want. I am wondering, if it may assist the future of KiXforms if it were to be made open source?
I sincerely hope I haven't offended anyone with this suggestion; and I would understand completely if you didn't want to do this. However, perhaps this could lead to a bit of a resurgence in KiXforms (and perhaps even KiXtart).
Regards,
Richard |

For what it's worth, I managed to create a rather seamless Drop Down Tree View, using a borderless form containing a treeview, as well as textbox and a button to emulate the selection area of a combobox - so I feel as little silly for requesting it.
I guess the lack of being able to add new events and properties will always be an issue however. But I feel that's the tradeoff we get for the wonderful simplicity of the coding model that culminates KiXtart/Kixforms. In any case, I'm thankful and always will be for Kixforms. It would be great to hear from Shawn again, even if it is only to let us know how he is going and what he is presently working on. |
