Sad - Interesting... I just started w/Vista yesterday and of course one of the first things I checked was KiXtart and KiXforms... all good!

Today I fire up an old reliable script and wala it blows up. It errors on this line
Code:

Global $^TBH ; Tool Button Height
   $^TBH = 30

After looking at several other things because I "know" it cant be this... finally I remove the ^ and it works like a charm.

Thinking it must be me... I downloaded the icon.kix file from this site and add the ^ to the following lines
Code:

For $^i = 0 To $ListView.SmallImageList.Images.Count
 $Item = $ListView.Items.Add($^i,$^i)
Next

It blows up... remove the ^ and all is good again.

Are there any ideas as to why this is happening?
Code w/the ^ still works fine in all versions I have found other than Vista.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to any replys - Shane

I would have guessed that having a ^ in a variable name wouldn't have worked under any circumstances ... what error are you getting ? An "unexpected command' error ?

Yeah,

this should choke under any os as the caret character is a numeric operator

Quote:
^ Performs a bit-wise mathematical eXclusive OR (XOR) operation on two numbers.

that's like... like... poking an elephant and hoping he won't stomp you for it. Wink

Simply avoid special characters in your vars?

Yep - ERROR: unexpected command!

Somehow I missed that ^ was an operator.
Lesson learned... avoid special chars in variable names. Laughing

I find it odd that this code has been in use (on 30+ machines) since June of 2003 and never an issue until now.

Thanks to all for the feed back - Shane
