I was just wondering is the "Security" property was implemented in KixForms.

Code:

Dim $System, $sec
$System = CreateObject("Kixforms.System")
$sec = $System.Security
? @Error
? @Serror

@Error = -2147352570
@Serror = Unknown Name

security?
does the doc say anything about it?
what are you looking for in there?

if it's not implemented, it might get there if it's useful stuff.

Well basically I need to to pass a secure string.
Code:

$pw = $System.Security.SecureString

Then you have to use $pw.Append("stuff here") to make the password secure and then you can use $pw to pass a secure password.

This way you can start a process as a different user for instance.

it doesn't support append.

to which object you would be feeding that securestring?
asking as there might be other means to create those strings...

This should work as I coded the same thing in VB .Net.
Code:

$System = CreateObject("Kixforms.System")
Dim $Process
$Process = $System.Process
$Process.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\Windows\Notepad.exe"
$Process.StartInfo.UserName = "Administrator"
$Process.StartInfo.Domain = @LDOMAIN
$Process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = Not 1
Dim $Password
$Password = $System.Security.SecureString
$Password.AppendChar("p")
$Password.AppendChar("w")
$Process.StartInfo.Password = $Password
$Process.Start
$Process.WaitForExit

Btw .Net 2.0 is the ONLY .Net supported in KixForms Razz
Ask Shawn.

Hmm I seem to remember when KixForms.Net was posted on korg for the first time that the requirements were exactly .Net v2.0.50727

Anyway this is sidetracking now, if im wrong or not the issue is the security.securestring. Will it be implemented ?
And no I won't give any more arguements to strenghten the case.

but it's not side tracked at all.
that bloody securestring is .net 2.0 thingie.
so, if there is no way to do it with .net 1.1, it won't get implemented.

that's it.

Ok fair enough then.
No .Net 2.0 = No SecureString.
